Chris Jusell

Violinist

Hailed by the Denver Westword for his “acrobatic” and “robust” playing, Chris Jusell is a violinist based in Raleigh, where he currently holds an acting position in the Second Violin section of the North Carolina Symphony. He is also the Principal Second violinist of the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra and Assistant Principal Second of the Central City Opera Orchestra. Chris is a member of the experimental quartet Fuubutsushi, which has released five albums to critical acclaim, and he has toured and recorded with Nathaniel Rateliff.


While living in Denver, Chris served as Concertmaster of the Greeley Philharmonic for ten years and held positions with Opera Colorado, Colorado Ballet, and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. He has played frequently with the Colorado Symphony and conducted a youth orchestra in the mountains of Colorado for five years. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Colorado State University, where he studied with Dr. Ron Francois; he also studied with Dr. John Fadial and Maria Maxwell. In the summer, Chris enjoys playing in the Torrey Chamber Music Festival in Utah and the Appalachian Chamber Music Festival in Harpers Ferry, WV.
